Training
The Campus Community Emergency Response Team (C-CERT) program educates members about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in disaster response skills. These skills include, but are not limited to:
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, C-CERT members can assist others on their campus or neighboring community following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.SB C-CERT also supports community emergency response by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects. Members are a dedicated group of students, faculty and staff trained in emergency response and management. Many of our members are also EMTs, Paramedics, firefighters and law enforcement officers.
Stony Brook University C-CERT is a collaboration between the Office of Emergency Management and Division of Campus Residences (Student Affairs). Stony Brook C-CERT is also an official Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) registered CERT program.
